Pak-India tension: COAS to brief NA, Senate defence bodies on April 4

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa will brief the Standing Committees on Defence of the National Assembly and the Senate regarding Pak-India tension on April 4.

The briefing will be held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and will be attended by the members of both standing committees. The 21-member committee will include the members of all parliamentary parties.

According to the notification issued by National Assembly and Senate Secretariat, the COAS will brief about Pak Army response to Indian provocation as well as present situation at the Line of Control (LOC) and Working Boundary. Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak has also been invited to the briefing.

It is the second briefing by COAS Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa to the parliamentarians in a month. Earlier, an in-camera briefing was given by him in the parliament on Feb 27.

Nation fully supports Pak Army in fight against terrorism: COAS

Earlier,Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa said that nation acknowledged and fully supported Pakistan Army’s contributions in fight against terrorism and militancy.

During his visit to Headquarters Southern Command, COAS was briefed in Quetta about security situation of the province, pursuance of National Action Plan, Operation Raddul Fasaad and socio-economic development projects undertaken as part of Khushhal Balochistan Programme.

“Balochistan is the future of Pakistan and it is their duty to fully assist the government and people of the province towards a shining future,” COAS Gen Bajwa said.

The ISPR further said that the army chief expressed his satisfaction and hoped that these steps would help elevate the overall security and socio-economic indicators in the province.

He also said that nation acknowledged and fully supported Pakistan Army’s contributions in fight against terrorism and militancy.

“We shall always come up to the expectations of the people of Pakistan who are our real strength,” General Bajwa said.
