Charred bones found on a Melbourne beach most likely belong to a petite woman more than 20 years old and the detectives assigned to the baffling case are asking for help to unravel the mystery of her identity.

Despite 18 months of forensic tests and scanning missing person profiles, Victoria Police have no clue who the person is or how they died.
