Today’s outlook: NCC mulls country-wide lockdown, India stop Pakistan’s water

Here are some of the stories we are expecting to follow today (Thursday):

• Prime Minister Imran Khan will chair a National Coordination Committee meeting in Islamabad to decide the fate of the country-wide lockdown due to spiking coronavirus cases. The committee will also decide whether the suspension of flight operations continues or not. The federal cabinet had previously approved easing the lockdown.
• Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Pechuho says the health department will develop a mechanism in a day or two that will tell people in the province which hospitals have space for more patients and which don’t.
• An inquiry into the death of radiologist Dr Furqan has found a Civil Hospital Karachi doctor responsible. The doctor had reportedly refused to admit Dr Furqan despite his worsening health condition and referred him to another hospital after a check-up.
• One of Pakistan’s first experiments treating COVID-19 using plasma therapy has been conducted at Civil Hospital, Hyderabad. The patient was doing well after being administered the therapy.
• India has stopped 14,000 cusecs of water flowing into Pakistan via the Chenab River.
