Australian Statistician says there were ‘some sensitivities’ around proposed new questions on gender and sexuality
The Australian Bureau of Statistics printed 20,000 census test forms with new questions on gender and sexuality but dumped them after input from the assistant treasurer Michael Sukkar’s office.
On Thursday the Australian Statistician, David Kalisch, revealed Sukkar’s office did “express a preference” about inclusion of the new questions in the test, but took responsibility for dumping them by saying the “ultimate call” was his.
